Reverend
Dr. James Momoh
Reverend Dr. James A. Momoh
is from
Igarra, a town in Edo State,
Nigeria. He came to the United States in 1972. Despite his special love and talent for
science and engineering, Reverend Dr. Momoh has remained obedient to
the Word
and his call to the Ministry. This has
led him to complete his Theological training at Howard University
School of
Divinity. Reverend Momoh has a Master of
Arts degree in Religious Studies with emphasis on Theology and
Evangelism. He preached his initial sermon
on June 16,
2004, and was ordained to the Gospel Ministry on December 13, 2008, by
the Vermont
Avenue Baptist Church
under the
pastorate of Reverend Cornelius R. Wheeler.
As
an integral part
of the ministerial staff, Reverend Dr. Momoh continues to promote the Kingdom of God through preaching, teaching
and prayer. His ambition is to further
linkages in
theology and witness across boundary and global communities. He believes that there is room for us to “Save
to Serve.”
Dr. Momoh is a Professor of
Engineering, former Chair of
the Department of Electrical Engineering for over a decade, and
currently the Director
of Center for Energy Systems and Control at Howard University,
Washington, DC. He completed his
engineering education and
advanced degrees at Howard University, Carnegie Mellon, and University of Pennsylvania.
He has served the US National Science
Foundation as a Program Director of Energy Systems for over 3½
years. In addition, he has established
several
research and education linkages between universities, countries, and
disciplines.
Reverend Dr. Momoh is
married to Felicia Momoh, a teacher
with the Prince George’s
County Public Schools system. They
reside in Upper Marlboro, Maryland
and are parents to four boys: Onaivi,
Eshovo, Ojirese and Omeiza.
