Back To School Night!
On Friday evening, the Youth
Empowerment Ministry will host its “Back to School Night”.
Our
prayer is that you will contribute notebook paper, pencils, pens,
crayons and
other school supplies to the drive by Wednesday, August 27 and then
join us as
we support our children with an enthusiastic evening of motivation and
encouragement. A formal list of the
desired items is available in the church office. If
you are not able to pick up and deliver
supplies, monetary donations are welcome. Sister

Church Anniversary Celebration! In
September, we will be celebrating the 142nd Anniversary of our historic Church and the first year of
service
of our Pastor. Our scriptural foundation
for the Anniversary will rest on Galatians 5:13-14: For
you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty
as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word,
even in this: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
As a theme, we will use the saying from
African traditional community philosophy, “I Am Because We Are”. Our plan is to celebrate with worship, prayer
and fellowship. We hope that you will be a
part; I Am Because
We Are! Our schedule for the
celebration
is:
Each weekday
evening of the Anniversary, prior to worship, we will serve a “light” dinner in the
cafeteria of the Additionally,
we will gather for our traditional Anniversary Dinner after the Sunday worship on September 21. This year’s Anniversary Dinner will honor the
ladies and gentlemen of our Culinary Staff, who labor unselfishly
Sunday after
Sunday for our convenience in the cafeteria. Reservations
for the dinner are $???; make your plans and
reservations
to be a part of our communal joy. |

Women's
Day "Adopt A Room" Project
As a part
of the Women’s Day “18 Months of Giving” campaign, they are giving
leadership
to an “Adopt a Room” project.
The idea
is that we will use the next 18 months to raise money that will go
specifically
to the redecoration, refurnishing and equipping of the rooms used by
our Youth
Missionaries and the Youth Department of the Sunday School. Those benefactors who donate $75.00 or more
over the coming months will have their names included on plaques that
will be
displayed for posterity in the rooms. Deaconess
Epahanna Williams is chairing the drive and can
provide additional
information. |

Women
Sponsor Etiquette Workshop Series
In
celebration of Women’s Day 2008-2009, the Women’s Day Committee is sponsoring an etiquette workshop series
entitled
“Empowering Girls Today to Become
Ladies Tomorrow.” Our objective is
to offer enriched
experiences and opportunities which will enable the participants to
develop
greater spiritual values, cultural awareness, and expand their
knowledge of
social graces as well as their growth in acceptance of responsibilities. We are inviting and encouraging our young
ladies, between the ages of 10-18 years, to come to room 205 after the
morning
service and meet with Sister Sonya Clyburn and her committee.
